Tribal Style Fundamentals (Wednesdays at 6:30 pm)

Want to dance like those crazy Mizmar Madness girls? Here's where to start. In this foundation class, students will learn and practice the basic movement vocabulary of improvisational tribal style belly dance. Students will also practice playing finger cymbals (zills or sagat) while dancing. Previous belly dance experience helpful. Advanced students are always welcome to revisit this class to review the "basics" and refine their movements. The movement vocabulary taught is heavily influenced by FatChanceBellyDance but also borrows from Gypsy Caravan, inFusion and TribalTique.

Advanced Tribal Style (Wednesdays at 7:30 pm)

Learn more complex movement vocabulary and practice cues and transitions. Students will gain improvisational experience through leading and following exercises that utilize various formations including chorus and small group. Zills will be played throughout.

Cost:

Drop-in: $11 per class
4-Class Card: $40 ($10 per class)
8-Class Card: $72 ($9 per class)

The Studio Dance and Art Center ~ 3020 W. Colorado Ave ~ Colorado Springs

Directions:

The Studio is located on West Colorado Avenue between 30th and 31st Streets. It is next to Wendy's and across from McDonalds.

From I-25, take Cimarron (Hwy 24) west toward the mountains. Turn right on 31st, go 1 block, turn right on Colorado Ave., turn left into the Studio parking lot, just past the Wendy's.

There are several businesses and doors on the building. The door to The Studio faces Colorado Ave., with a concrete ramp leading to it.
